How do I find my S-Class engine code?

Your S-Class engine code can be found in three places:

VIN plate — located on the driver's side door pillar or under the bonnet. The engine code is usually in the 7th and 8th positions of the VIN.

Vehicle documentation — your V5C logbook lists the engine number; the engine code is the first part of that number.

Engine block stamping — the engine code is stamped directly onto the block. On the OM642, it's on the left-hand side near the front; on the M276, it's on the top of the block under the plastic cover.
