Source: Internal CRM quote-request data from EnginesMarket.co.uk and EngineFinders.co.uk, combined. Full calendar year 2025. 24,650 unique quote requests across all brands; 5,920 relate specifically to Mercedes-Benz. Enquiry timestamps were aggregated by month and quarter to identify seasonal and long-term patterns.

What we track: unique customer quote requests specifying a particular engine code or vehicle. Repeat requests from the same customer for the same engine are not double-counted. We track both absolute volumes and relative share across engine families.

Limitations: enquiry volume is a function of both failure rate and vehicle parc size. A rising trend for OM654 may mean the engine is becoming less reliable, or simply that more OM654-equipped vehicles are now entering the mileage window where failures typically occur. We use Known Failure Patterns data to distinguish between these explanations. We also note that winter months see more enquiries partly because cold weather exposes existing wear more dramatically, not because the underlying failure rate has actually increased.

Refresh cycle: annually, each February. This is our first edition and establishes the baseline year.
